I got a call at 8P.M. this week from a couple that had just returned from a vacation to find four racoons in their master bathroom. Not only did the Racoons cause them grief after a long day of travel to return home, they also did an enormous amount of damage to the home. The mother Racoon was using a tiny gap in the soffit to enter the attic. She had easy access to move in and out of the home at will and forage for food. She gave birth in the attic and nursed her young, and while the residents below were unaware. When the family left town to go on vacation, the Raccoons felt safe enough to try and explore the interior of the home proper. They absolutely destroyed a large amount of the duct work, the air return, and even damaged a lot of the vents. When inspecting the home after I relocated the Raccoon family, I noticed that many of the AC vents had insulation visible. This is an indicator that the duct leading to that vent is compromised and leaking the cold air into the attic. Of coarse this means your air conditioner works harder and runs longer leading to a higher electric bill, but it will burn your air conditioner up faster. Most of the time this whole scenario can be avoided. St. Johns Pest Control will bring any potential access points for rodents or other wildlife to your attention, and usually offer a solution that can be taken care of with fairly light exclusionary work. Having St. Johns Pest Control provide monthly or quarterly service can stop a nightmare like this before it had a chance to even start.

Sweeping Windows Doors and Soffit
Spiders can be helpful in controlling population of certain pest in the area, but no one likes catching a web in the face as you leave for work in the morning. One of the challenges in dealing with spiders is the fact that they do not com into enough contact with product like ants and roaches do to lower their numbers. Sweeping is often times the best way to remove them and their eggs from your home or business.
Liquid Residual Quarterly Service
Most homes and businesses in Florida will benefit from a pest control program’s regular maintenance. Liquid applications are both versatile and tend to have a lasting effect depending on product. During each application process, we look for trouble areas and others with that potential and utilize the appropriate products to keep the number of pest to a minimum.
Snake Trapping
Sometimes wildlife will pop up in unsuspected places. This helpful snake made itself comfortable in a Rodent Bait Station deployed at a customer’s home. Unfortunately for it, we had to relocate it to an area away from our station. We kept it’s contact information, and should we have a customer that is not concerned about snakes and wants pesticide free treatments for rodents, we will let it know.
Regular Granulation Monthly Treatment
Protecting your home from pest involves several steps to make sure the best treatment program is applied. A portion of the programs for a monthly service is granulating around your home. The products employed during a service will help mitigate a substantial amount of issues even before you notice them.
Nocatee Rodent Station Maintenance
Regular maintenance is necessary when using rodent stations. With out service, they will not only become ineffective, they may become harborage. If you have conditions around your home or business conducive to rodent proliferation, Rodent Bait Stations can help thin out the issue prior to it becoming out of control.
Termites, Your Home, and Regular Maintenance.
A few days ago while doing an inspection on a home in Nocatee for a new customer, they asked if I would mind inspecting the stations that were surrounding the home they had just purchased. The structure had gone though all the prerequisite inspections prior to the sale, and they were under the impression that the stations arounds the home were protecting them from termites. After the inspection and the Pest Control service they had requested, I started to inspect the In-ground Bait Stations that were present.
