Termites, Your Home, and Regular Maintenance.

A few days ago while doing an inspection on a home in Nocatee for a new customer, they asked if I would mind inspecting the stations that were surrounding the home they had just purchased. The structure had gone though all the prerequisite inspections prior to the sale, and they were under the impression that the stations arounds the home were protecting them from termites.  After the inspection and the Pest Control service they had requested, I started to inspect the In-ground Bait Stations that were present. Unfortunately they only had half of the required stations left. This is usually the result of damage from lawn mowers and landscaping being preformed over the years. Of the ones that were there, three had all of the bait completely consumed by termites in the past. You cannot tell by looking at them while they are in the ground and subterranean termites rarely show signs that they are threatening your home. Afterwards I raked back the mulch beds and did as thorough inspection as possible, but the fact of the matter is that they will come in through areas that aren’t visible. Even when we do liquid termite treatments we often times install In-ground Bait Stations as a way of monitoring  activity in the area, since they area hidden otherwise. In order to protect your home properly and maintain a termite bond in Florida, you need regular maintenance and inspections for termites. Going without is a large gamble. St. Johns Pest Control has several different options to choose from that can accommodate almost any home a budget. Jacksonville and St. Johns residents call for a free inspection and estimate!

Mosquitos only need a small amount of water to begin the breeding process and even then, it doesn’t have to stay wet the whole time.
